Full Biography
Ed Garry Chisolm (known professionally as Garry) is a multidisciplinary professional whose career spans over five decades across enterprise technology, nonprofit consulting, grant writing, faith-based ministry, music education, web development, and international education. Born in Charleston, South Carolina and raised in the Gullah Geechee community of Wadmalaw Island, Charleston County, Garry brings to every engagement an authenticity and cultural fluency that no credential can manufacture — he is of the community he serves, and that is his most enduring professional asset.
Garry’s technology career began in the early 1970s, when computing meant IBM mainframes the size of rooms and punch cards were still currency. Over the next four decades, he progressed through virtually every layer of the IT profession — from computer operations and programming to systems analysis, project management, and enterprise application architecture. The capstone of that career was eleven years with Robert Bosch GmbH, the German multinational engineering corporation, where he served as Financial Systems Applications Group Manager with ownership of mission-critical systems spanning Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Pricing, Invoicing, Shipping, Quality Assurance, and integrated financial operations. Through technological convergence, he successfully transitioned into distributed, end-user computing environments.
A grant writer who managed enterprise financial systems at Robert Bosch GmbH for 11 years does not need to guess how funders evaluate budgets. He already knows.
That technological foundation never sat still. Garry founded Angel Oak Digital Services, a licensed consulting business in Charleston County, through which he provides grant writing, WordPress and HTML website development, SEO, and nonprofit strategy services. He has built professional websites for AME churches, civic voter participation organizations, and a South Carolina Lieutenant Governor campaign — including full e-commerce and donation processing integrations. His grant writing track record includes over $65,000 in secured awards: a $50,000 COVID-19 ARPA Recovery Grant and a $10,000 Historical Site Preservation Grant through the Gullah Geechee Heritage Corridor, and a $5,000 award through Southern Partners Fund (SPF) Grantmaking.

Garry is not a generalist who dabbles in many things. He is a seasoned professional whose diverse expertise forms a coherent and deeply practical whole: a man who has managed enterprise financial systems for several Fortune 500 companies, written grants that win, built websites that work, led choirs and congregations, advanced racial justice, and taught children to love music and language — all rooted in the red clay and salt marshes of Wadmalaw Island. He works on a flat-fee basis, because his clients deserve to know exactly what they are paying for, and because his expertise is worth it.
